作曲者石青如，生於音樂家庭，自幼學習小提琴與鋼琴，為臺灣師範大學音樂系學士、美國波士頓大學作曲及鋼琴碩士、紐約城市大學作曲博士。編寫兩岸民謠、流行曲的演奏曲達上百首，曾以《台灣風情畫》專輯獲金鼎獎最佳編曲，曲風多變，雅俗共賞。

　　作詞者張卉湄為詩人瘂弦的弟子，亦是一名專業心理諮商師，專長為戲劇藝術治療，與石青如結識於美國慈濟北加州合唱團。

　　〈如果明天就是下一生〉是她們二位在2004年為慈濟義診醫療車募款活動所編寫的作品，全曲溫柔雋永，引人深思──生命無常，終點隨時可能抵達，如果明天就是下一生，該如何度過今天？種種想望、執著，是否能夠安歇？而作者所給出的答覆是：願以溫暖守護生命、用覺照守護健康，使浪花般短暫的生命留下痕跡、點亮光明。
